How to survive in CS61A

For me γ…‘

-   Ask questions. When I encounter something I don't know, I'll ask the TA. This is not to say I should raise my hand impulsively, but I am goint to see a lot of challenging stuff since English is a second language for me, plus I am not skill at programming.

-   Study in groups. Since now, I have my project group. I'm sure they are better than me. This class is not trivial; I might feel overwhelmed goint at it alone. In this case I will work with someone, either on homework, on lab, or for midterms, as long as I don't violate the cheating policy.

-   Go to office hours. Office hours give me time with the instructor or TAs by themselves, and I will be able to get some on-on-one instructions to clear up confusioin. I am not instruding; the instructors and TAs like to teach!

-   Do all the homework. Some homework might be challenging, time-consuming and rewarding. The fact that homework is graded on effort does not imply that I should ignore it; it will be one of my primary sources of preparation and understanding

-   Do the readings before lecture! There is a reason why they are assigned. Since English is not mothertongued it would be hard to read in some case, but I'll try to do it.

-   When preparing for the midterms and final, do past exam questions! Lecture, lab and discussion provide a great introduction to the material, but the only way to learn how to solve exam-level problems is to do exam-level problems.

I'll do my best to keep up w/ this course : )
